On 5-22-11 at 9:30 AM the Alaska State Troopers responded to a small A-frame cabin fully engulfed which was located off Vine Road and S. Valley View in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that a fire was intentionally set by an unknown person(s) and the cabin was a total loss. Investigation is continuing.

On 5-10-11 at approximately 2:32 AM (Tuesday morning), Alaska State Troopers responded to an unoccupied vehicle burning at the Pink Flamingo Car Wash located on the Parks Highway near Lamont Way. Central Mat-Su Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been intentionally set on fire, causing over $5,000 in damage to a white 1991 Toyota 4-door and other vehicles in the area. Investigation is ongoing.

On 4-28-11 at approximately 7:40 PM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a camper trailer on fire at A&E Storage located near Mile 46 of the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Investigation revealed unknown subject(s) caused a fire damaging two vehicles. There was approximately $15,000 in damage to the camper trailer and vehicles.

On 1-16-11, at 3:05 PM, Wasilla Police responded to an armed robbery at Arctic Pull Tabs. According to the complainant, a white male in his early 20’s entered the building and pulled a handgun from his pants and demanded money. Approximately $1,000 was taken from the business. The male was wearing a black hoodie, black sunglasses, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The male then left the business on foot towards the Mug Shot Saloon.

On 12-6-10 and 12-16-10, a structure fire was reported at Earthly Treasures, located at 340 N. Lucille Street in Wasilla. The first fire was called in at approximately 9:00 PM and extinguished shortly after the fire was started but the building was still heavily damaged. A set of keys belonging to the business were located outside the structure. The second fire which occurred on 12-16-10 was called in at approximately 9:30 PM and did substantial damage resulting in the shutdown of the business. The building was a total loss and damage was estimated at $200,000.

On 8-5-10 at approximately 6:45 PM the Wasilla Police Department received a report of a burglary at a residence located near Spruce Road in Heritage Estates in Wasilla. Several collector items were stolen including a Cobray M11 fully automatic sub machine gun, four noise suppressors (assorted models), and a H & K (Heckler & Koch) USP compact .40 pistol . Personal items stolen include a Lumix Panasonic digital camera, Polaroid camera, Kodak digital camera, a Mac Book Pro laptop, a Toshiba laptop, and a pair of women’s shoes. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $21,720.00. Investigation continues.
AST Case #09-38968, Death Investigation

On May 15, 2009 at approximately 3:34 AM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a 911 call reporting a body lying in the southbound lane of the Parks Hwy. near the intersection with Vine Rd. outside Wasilla. On arrival, at approximately 3:36 AM Troopers found a deceased male, Scott L. Johnson, age 22, of Wasilla, laying face down in the outbound lane. There were no vehicles in the immediate vicinity. Members of the Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed responsibility for this case, and investigation is ongoing.
