On Saturday, 12-21-13 at approximately 10:40 AM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary that had occurred at a local business on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Palmer. Investigation revealed that someone had entered the business sometime during the previous night and stole the ATM machine. Anyone with information about the burglary or location of the ATM is encouraged to call Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

On Monday, 12-9-13, at approximately 8:00 PM, it was reported to the Alaska State Troopers that Theodore Konyot, age 60 of Palmer, was found deceased by a family member in his home located at approximately Mile 1.1 Knik River Road, in Palmer. Troopers responded to investigate the cause and circumstances of the death. Next of kin has been notified. Investigation is ongoing by Alaska Bureau of Investigation, but Konyot`s death has been determined to be a homicide. Anyone with information relating to Konyot`s death, or who had any contact with Konyot, or saw suspicious activity in that area from Saturday, 12-7 through Monday, 12-9 is asked to call the Alaska State Troopers, Inv. Investigation revealed unknown person(s) entered a yard and stole a Wood Miser LP15 sawmill. The sawmill was estimated to be worth $9,000. Investigation continues.

On Monday, 11/11/13 at 12:43 PM, Wasilla Police received a report of a burglary and theft at Kash’s Carpets located on W. Parks Highway in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that sometime between Saturday 11/9/13 at 2:00 PM and Monday at 10:00 AM unknown person(s) made entry through an unlocked rear door. Cash and a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver with a 4” barrel, wood stock and silver finish were stolen. Estimated loss is approximately $800. Investigation is on-going.

On Tuesday, 9-17-13, Wasilla Police received a report of burglary located on W. Melanie Avenue in Wasilla. The burglary occurred between the hours of 11:15 AM and 5:20 PM. The back door of the residence was forcibly opened with what appeared to be a pry bar which damaged the door frame and lock. Electronics including a 46” Samsung LED TV, a 42” Insignia TV, Playstation 3 and Playstation Controller were stolen. Approximate loss and damage is $3,800. Investigation continues.

Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) started a fire inside the residence causing approximately $10,000 in damage. Investigation is continuing.

On Thursday, 9-19-13 at about 12:53 PM, Wasilla Police responded to Fishhook Plaza located on Creste Foris Street near N. Wasilla Fishhook Road and Forest Avenue for a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed two businesses were broken into. Damage to the front door window of one business and damage to the front door of the other business resulted in approximately $1,400 worth of damage. In addition, cash was taken from the cash tills at both businesses. Investigation is on-going.

On Monday, 9-9-13 at 8:45 AM, Wasilla Police responded to a construction lot located at the intersection of S. Knik Goose Bay Rd. and S. Fern St. for a report of tires stolen from a backhoe. According to the foreman on site, the 2 back tires and wheels from a Case 580SK backhoe were taken sometime between 7:00 PM Saturday, September 7th and Monday, September 9th. Total value of loss is $2,997. No suspects have been identified and this case is currently under investigation.

On Tuesday, 9-17-13 at approximately 7:00 AM Wasilla Police responded to a burglary at the Menard Sports Center located at 1001 Mack Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that sometime during the preceding night unknown person(s) made entry to the facility by breaking out a large window. Once inside suspects damaged a number of items and stole cash as well. In addition, a historic building on site was also vandalized and the entire wood frame windows were damaged. Total estimated amount of damage is $4,500.

On Sunday 7-25-13 at 7:13 AM, Wasilla Police Department received a report of vandalism to the Integra Insurance offices located at 224 N. Yenlo Street in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a window had been smashed in sometime during the night with an unknown object. The business was burglarized as entry was made to the building and cash was stolen. Damage to the window is estimated at $400.00.

On Saturday 4-27-13 Wasilla Police received a report of a theft. The victim reported that on 4-25-13 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, an unknown person entered a locked vehicle while it was parked in the Matsu Cinema parking lot in Wasilla. A Saga 12 gauge semi auto shotgun worth $900 and Century Arms .308 rifle with a bipod worth $1400 were stolen from the trunk.

On Friday, 5-3-13 at approximately 7:25 PM, Wasilla Police responded to a residence on Grubstake (located near Lucas Road and Cache Drive) for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival officers met with the homeowners who stated that someone entered through the garage and took winter clothing and tried to enter the house. Items stolen include a wolf hat, Arco snowsuit and a pair of insulated snow boots. Approximate value of the stolen items is $1,200. Neighbors stated they saw a white male, approximately 5’9” to 6’ tall, bald head with a beard hanging around the area.

On Wednesday 3-27-13 at approximately 0022 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Big Lake Superstore in Big Lake for an armed robbery. Investigation revealed an unknown male armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money. A store employee gave the suspect cash from the till and the suspect fled in a small gray pickup. Investigation is continuing.

On Sunday 2-10-13 at approximately 7:40 AM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of arson/criminal mischief at a residence located on Agate Lane in Wasilla. When Troopers arrived at the residence, a green Chevrolet van was parked in the driveway and it was observed that the van was badly burned and there were charred remains of large fireworks on the seat of the vehicle. It is unknown who is responsible for this crime. Estimated damage to the vehicle is over $1,000.

On Saturday 2/2/13, at approximately 10:50 PM, Wasilla Police responded to a residence on Ponderosa Loop for a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed someone had entered the house while the homeowner was gone between the hours of 8:00AM and 10:45 PM. Entry was believed to have been made through the kitchen window. Items stolen were:
½ to ¾ karat diamond stud platinum earrings; small pair diamond stud earrings; 2 pair gold nugget earrings; fire Opal in gold setting with gold chain necklace; Sanyo LED flat screen TV; Toshiba Laptop purple computer; 40” Magnavox flat screen TV; DVD player; Walrus tusk and skull scrimshaw; and cash. Approximate total loss is $10,000.

On Wednesday, 1/16/13 at approximately 10:00 PM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported burglary at a residence on Rocky Street in Big Lake. Investigation revealed someone forced entry into the residence and stole a Toyo stove and a BB rifle. Severe damage was caused due to the heating oil line being cut and oil seeping throughout the residence. Investigation continues.

On Tuesday 1/8/2013 at approximately 8:33 PM, Alaska State Troopers received
a report of an assault and shooting at the Alcantra Recreational Center located on Seldon Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that an 18 year old male was assaulted by 4 unidentified males before being shot in the leg. The 4 unidentified males left the area in a small silver car. The 18 year old male was initially transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital and was later reported to be in stable condition. Drugs are suspected to be involved. This case is currently under investigation.
