Theft WPD #13-1649
September 20, 2013

On Monday, 9-9-13 at 8:45 AM, Wasilla Police responded to a construction lot located at the intersection of S. Knik Goose Bay Rd. and S. Fern St. for a report of tires stolen from a backhoe. According to the foreman on site, the 2 back tires and wheels from a Case 580SK backhoe were taken sometime between 7:00 PM Saturday, September 7th and Monday, September 9th.  Total value of loss is $2,997.  No suspects have been identified and this case is currently under investigation.

September 20, 2013


On Tuesday, 9-17-13 at approximately 7:00 AM Wasilla Police responded to a burglary at the Menard Sports Center located at 1001 Mack Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that sometime during the preceding night unknown person(s) made entry to the facility by breaking out a large window. Once inside suspects damaged a number of items and stole cash as well.  In addition, a historic building on site was also vandalized and the entire wood frame windows were damaged. Total estimated amount of damage is $4,500.

On Thursday 8-15-13 at 12:00 PM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft from a construction site on Outrigger Drive in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that a power pedestal was stolen from a construction site sometime between that morning and the previous night.  There are no suspects at this time.

Burglary WPD #13-1300
August 03, 2013

On Sunday 7-25-13 at 7:13 AM, Wasilla Police Department received a report of vandalism to the Integra Insurance offices located at 224 N. Yenlo Street in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a window had been smashed in sometime during the night with an unknown object.  The business was burglarized as entry was made to the building and cash was stolen. Damage to the window is estimated at $400.00.

June 05, 2013

On Saturday 4-27-13 Wasilla Police received a report of a theft.  The victim reported that on 4-25-13 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, an unknown person entered a locked vehicle while it was parked in the Matsu Cinema parking lot in Wasilla.  A Saga 12 gauge semi auto shotgun worth $900 and Century Arms .308 rifle with a bipod worth $1400 were stolen from the trunk.

May 08, 2013

On Friday, 5-3-13 at approximately 7:25 PM, Wasilla Police responded to a residence on Grubstake (located near Lucas Road and Cache Drive) for a report of a burglary.  Upon arrival officers met with the homeowners who stated that someone entered through the garage and took winter clothing and tried to enter the house.  Items stolen include a wolf hat, Arco snowsuit and a pair of insulated snow boots.  Approximate value of the stolen items is $1,200.  Neighbors stated they saw a white male, approximately 5’9” to 6’ tall, bald head with a beard hanging around the area.

On Thursday 4-18-13 at approximately 5:00 PM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of stolen fuel oil at cabin property located on Rocky Lake Road in Big Lake. Investigation revealed, approximately 100 gallons of fuel oil was siphoned from an external tank sometime between Sunday and Wednesday. Investigation continues.

On Wednesday 3-27-13 at approximately 0022 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Big Lake Superstore in Big Lake for an armed robbery.  Investigation revealed an unknown male armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money. A store employee gave the suspect cash from the till and the suspect fled in a small gray pickup. Investigation is continuing.

On Sunday 2-10-13 at approximately 7:40 AM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of arson/criminal mischief at a residence located on Agate Lane in Wasilla.  When Troopers arrived at the residence, a green Chevrolet van was parked in the driveway and it was observed that the van was badly burned and there were charred remains of large fireworks on the seat of the vehicle.  It is unknown who is responsible for this crime.  Estimated damage to the vehicle is over $1,000.

On Saturday 2/2/13, at approximately 10:50 PM, Wasilla Police responded to a residence on Ponderosa Loop for a report of a burglary.  Investigation revealed someone had entered the house while the homeowner was gone between the hours of 8:00AM and 10:45 PM. Entry was believed to have been made through the kitchen window.  Items stolen were:
½ to ¾ karat diamond stud platinum earrings; small pair diamond stud earrings; 2 pair gold nugget earrings; fire Opal in gold setting with gold chain necklace; Sanyo LED flat screen TV; Toshiba Laptop purple computer; 40” Magnavox flat screen TV; DVD player; Walrus tusk and skull scrimshaw; and cash.  Approximate total loss is $10,000.

Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief #AK13003781
January 21, 2013

On Wednesday, 1/16/13 at approximately 10:00 PM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported burglary at a residence on Rocky Street in Big Lake.  Investigation revealed someone forced entry into the residence and stole a Toyo stove and a BB rifle. Severe damage was caused due to the heating oil line being cut and oil seeping throughout the residence.  Investigation continues.

January 16, 2013

On Tuesday 1/8/2013 at approximately 8:33 PM, Alaska State Troopers received
a report of an assault and shooting at the Alcantra Recreational Center located on Seldon Road in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that an 18 year old male was assaulted by 4 unidentified males before being shot in the leg.  The 4 unidentified males left the area in a small silver car.  The 18 year old male was initially transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital and was later reported to be in stable condition.  Drugs are suspected to be involved.  This case is currently under investigation.

Between the months of December 2012 and January 2013, Wasilla Police has received approximately eight reports involving counterfeit bills being passed through local area businesses as legitimate money resulting in losses of over $3,300. The denominations of these bills range from $5 through $100.  Currently $5, $10 and $20 bills are the most common bills being passed. If anyone has any information regarding the counterfeiting of US Currency, contact Mat-Su Crime Stoppers.

On Sunday 1/6/13 at approximately 10:27 AM, Wasilla Police responded to a report of a theft at the Best Western Inn located on Lake Lucille Drive.  There were eight 42” Hisense LCD televisions stolen along with various other items belonging to the hotel. The value of the items stolen is estimated at $5,270.

On Wednesday, 1/2/13 at approximately 4:46 PM Wasilla Police were notified that Key Bank located on Lucille Street in Wasilla had just been robbed.  The suspect wielded a box cutter and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspect is described as an adult white male 5`7” wearing a black Carhartt jacket and pants.  The suspect was also wearing a hood with what appeared to be a cut out ski mask.

On Thursday, 12/27/12 at about 11:54 PM, Wasilla police investigated a report of items stolen from a vehicle parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  Items taken include a Blackhawk .44 caliber pistol with stock handgrips (but missing two brass emblems) worth $800; a black Toshiba laptop with OEF stickers worth $500; baby clothes worth $200 and a DVD video from an ultrasound of the victim`s unborn child.  Security video from Wal-Mart showed the theft occurred at 11:09 PM.  The suspects are described as two adult males with tall and slender builds in which one was wearing a camo jacket and the other was wearing a dark hoodie with a light green shirt.  The suspects were seen leaving in a green four-door Crown Victoria type sedan.  According to the report, Wal-mart management believed the same vehicle was involved in similar thefts in their parking lot during the last couple months.

WPD #12-1615 Burglary

On Tuesday 10/16/12, at approximately 5:57 PM the Wasilla Police Department received a call from a homeowner who reported someone had burglarized their residence located on Ashford Blvd. near Church and Spruce Avenue in Wasilla. The burglary occurred that day between noon and 5:47 PM.

Items stolen include a Bushmaster AR15 .223 cal semiautomatic rifle, a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun Model 500 (black finish), a 50" Panasonic TV, a 37" Vizio TV, and a Dewalt 4 tool combo. The estimated value of damage and items stolen is over $3,750.

On Sunday 11/25/12 at approximately 4:17 PM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a business located on Begich Drive in Wasilla after receiving a report of a travel trailer stolen from the property. Investigation revealed sometime after 8:30 AM on Saturday, unknown person(s) entered the property and stole a 30’ Jayco, Model 302 Eagle travel trailer (white and burgundy in color).
